Chito Ryu’s Kate Campbell Earns International title at Dutch open!
Fredericton karate star Kate Campbell has added another medal to her collection. Campbell won a bronze at the Dutch Open Karate 1 Championship in Rotterdam, Netherlands. “It’s a really high level tournament,” said Campbell. The tournament saw nearly 800 competitors, and around 50 in her category. The only match she lost was in the semi-finals. Congratulations to Sensei Higashi
On June 4th, 2016 Sensei Higashi will receive the Tsuruoka Life Time Achievement Award from the Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame. This award is a huge accomplishment and follows Sensei Higashi’s induction into the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2007.
New Kyoshis
At the Canadian Chito Ryu Karate-Do Associations AGM there were five individuals that were successful in their testing for 7th dan. They were tested by Sensei Higashi and along with their 7th dans they were promoted the title of Kyoshi. Kate lost to Brazil’s Valeria Kumizaki in the final of the women’s 55-kilogram event Kate Campbell, a member of the New Maryland Chito-Ryu Dojo in Fredericton, won a silver medal in karate at the Pan Am Games in Toronto on Thursday.
