We are very proud to announce that Sensei Higashi was presented with the Masami Tsuruoka Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame ceremony in Toronto on June 4th. Many Chito-Ryu members from Alberta, PEI, Nova Scotia, NB, Quebec and Ontario were present at the ceremonies to help him celebrate this wonderful honor.
Punta Cana Higashi Getaway 2016 was a huge success!
On April 9th 2016 a group of 40 people traveled from Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI to Punta Cana. The week consisted of karate, Tai Chi, Dune Buggies, Bocce Ball, volley ball and more. It was an experience of a lifetime and for some people it was their first trip south. Chito Ryu’s Kate Campbell Earns International title at Dutch open!
Fredericton karate star Kate Campbell has added another medal to her collection. Campbell won a bronze at the Dutch Open Karate 1 Championship in Rotterdam, Netherlands. “It’s a really high level tournament,” said Campbell. The tournament saw nearly 800 competitors, and around 50 in her category. The only match she lost was in the semi-finals. Congratulations to Sensei Higashi
On June 4th, 2016 Sensei Higashi will receive the Tsuruoka Life Time Achievement Award from the Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame. This award is a huge accomplishment and follows Sensei Higashi’s induction into the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2007.
New Kyoshis
At the Canadian Chito Ryu Karate-Do Associations AGM there were five individuals that were successful in their testing for 7th dan. They were tested by Sensei Higashi and along with their 7th dans they were promoted the title of Kyoshi. Switzerland Camp – June 2015
From June 29 to July 03, 2015, a group of 21 Chito Ryu karatekas from Canada and Norway, lead by Hanshi Higashi Sensei and Kyoshi Golz, travelled through Switzerland during a trip organized by Sensei Andre Buret.
