Here is confirmation of some great news, which we could not broadcast before the official ceremony that occurred at the National championship July 4 to 7, in Laval Quebec: The president of Karate Canada, Craig Vokey, announced that Karate Canada was granting the rank of 10th dan to Higashi Sensei.
And this for his exceptional contribution to the development of Karate in Canada since the very beginnings of the National Karate Association/now Karate Canada.
He is the 2nd individual in the history of Karate Canada to receive this honor after O’Sensei Masami Tsuruoka, the father of karate in Canada and Higashi Sensei’s first instructor. Of course, it is important to emphasize this connection when we know that sensei Higashi was the first black belt trained by sensei Tsuruoka! What a magnificent path in history.
With this news, we express our warmest congratulations and sincere wishes for the best continuation of sensei Higashi.

Voici la confirmation d’une nouvelle formidable, que nous ne pouvions pas diffuser avant la ceremonie officielle qui eut lieu aux Championnats Nationaux du 4 au 7 Juillet a Laval au Quebec : Le président de Karaté Canada, Craig Vokey, a annoncé que Karaté Canada octroyait le grade de 10e dan à Higashi Sensei.
Et ceci pour sa contribution exceptionnelle au développement du Karaté au Canada depuis les tout débuts de la National Karaté Association/ devenu Karaté Canada.
Il est le 2e à recevoir cette honneur après O’Sensei Masami Tsuruoka, le père du karaté au Canada et le 1er instructeur d’Higashi Sensei. Bien entendu, il est important de souligner cette connection quand on sait que sensei Higashi fut la premiere ceinture noire formee par sensei Tsuruoka! Quelle magnifique sentier dans l’histoire de Karate Canada.
Avec cette nouvelle, nous formulons nos felicitations les plus chaleureuses et nos voeux sinceres pour la meilleure continuation de sensei Higashi.
